Hulk Hogan came into WCW as probably the greatest wrestler in the world, leaving behind many historic moments in WWE. Obviously, Hogan made an immediate impact, and the hype to see him face WCW wrestlers was incredibly high.

It was an extraordinary time for Hogan, who even had to work from the other perspective, being the bad guy. The Hulkster had some legendary opponents in WCW, although admittedly he also had some lousy opponents, who simply weren't up to the task of a feud with Hogan. Without further ado, let's take a look at Hulk Hogan's five best and five worst opponents in WCW.

10 Best: Randy Savage

Randy Savage Hulk Hogan Halloween Havoc 1996

Certainly, the WCW rivalry between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage was nowhere near their WWE rivalry, as both were past their prime and the storyline wasn't as interesting. Still, Hogan and Savage had massive star power, and their program was must-see.

They collided at Halloween Havoc 1996, in a decent match that ended with the heel Hogan winning to retain the WCW World Heavyweight Title. In 1998, Hogan and Savage clashed a couple more times, including a lousy match at Uncensored 1998.

9 Worst: Vader

Hulk Hogan vs Vader Steel Cage match

This was a very promising rivalry, as Vader was not only an intimidating big man, he wasn't just a monster heel, he was one of the best wrestlers in the world. And well, fans wanted to see Hulk Hogan body slamming Vader like he did to Andre The Giant, if nothing else.

Unfortunately, this rivalry was disappointing, mostly due to bad booking, as the feud was always in Hogan's favor, and sometimes Hogan did not even sell Vader's moves, hurting Vader's momentum and even his reputation. The matches and the story could have been much better.

8 Best: Lex Luger

Lex Luger Hulk Hogan

Lex Luger was the perfect babyface to take on the evil Hulk Hogan and the New World Order. Luger was the fans' hope that someone would give Hulk Hogan his comeuppance.

Indeed, on the August 4, 1997, episode of Monday Nitro, Lex Luger defeated Hulk Hogan to become WCW World Heavyweight Champion, which was one of the greatest moments in WCW history, hands down. However, days later at Road Wild 1997, Hogan took the title back, giving the feud a bitter end, to say the least.

7 Worst: Billy Kidman

Billy Kidman vs Hulk Hogan

In its last attempts to survive, WCW tried to push young talent, so some young wrestlers were facing the company's top superstars. Hulk Hogan had a feud with Billy Kidman, and the initial idea was to turn Kidman into a superstar, but this was a total failure, a waste of time.

The storyline was absurd, and the matches were terrible. Billy Kidman benefited little to nothing from this feud, while Hulk Hogan just looked weak and failed to elevate Kidman.

6 Best: Roddy Piper

Roddy Piper Vs Hulk Hogan

The rivalry between Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper began in WWE, only there Hogan was the babyface, while Piper was the heel. In WCW, things took a 180-degree turn, so it was quite intriguing to see the role reversal.

Rowdy and the Hulkster had an outstanding program, with epic promo battles and a great build to their matches. Maybe the Hogan/Piper matches were mediocre, but at the time the fans enjoyed it, and it's safe to say that this rivalry was a huge success.

5 Worst: The Warrior

Hulk Hogan had an epic rivalry with The Ultimate Warrior in WWE, and when they reunited in WCW they reignited the feud with the goal of producing something similar. Fans had high expectations, as they expected to see a great feud and a great match, just like the one at WrestleMania 6.

Unfortunately, this feud sucked. Hulk Hogan and The Warrior collided at Halloween Havoc 1998, where they delivered one of the worst wrestling matches of all time. Mediocre in-ring action, botches, terrible booking... no wonder Dave Meltzer rated this match -5 stars.

4 Best: Ric Flair

Hulk Hogan made his WCW in-ring debut at Bash At The Beach 1994 against none other than World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. Hogan defeated Flair in an excellent match and became the new champion, thus having a dream debut.

That was the first of a handful of matches Hogan and Flair had in WCW. Ric Flair was undoubtedly one of the best rivals of Hulk Hogan's career, as they not only competed within the ropes, but also competed to determine who was the bigger superstar.

3 Worst: The Butcher

Brutus Beefcake The Butcher

Over the years, information has been revealed about Hulk Hogan's backstage politics, and it's no secret that the guy would put his friends ahead of any other wrestler. The Butcher (also known as Brutus Beefcake) was a close friend of Hogan's, so no need to explain what happened here.

Hogan and The Butcher faced each other in the main event of WCW's biggest PPV, Starrcade 1994, the match was awful, and hardly anyone cared about this feud.

2 Best: Sting

Sting vs Hulk Hogan

Arguably Hulk Hogan's best rival in WCW was Sting. From the beginning, there was so much hype to see this dream clash between WWE's biggest superstar and perhaps WCW's hottest superstar.

This was long-term storytelling at its finest, as WCW was building their match at Starrcade 1997 for over a year, making it one of the biggest matches in the history of sports entertainment. Although the match was infamous, and was such a letdown, this rivalry was absolutely tremendous.

1 Worst: The Giant

The Giant vs Hulk Hogan at Halloween Havoc 1995

The feud between Hulk Hogan and The Giant was terrible, with an absurd storyline, questionable booking decisions and mediocre matches. Andre The Giant's son? The world championship changing hands via disqualification? The Giant falling off a building? Yes, all that happened.

This feud went from bad to worse, and perhaps there's nothing good that can be salvaged from it. The Giant was one of Hulk Hogan's worst opponents in WCW, no doubt about it.
